Tower el Gòtic

To integrate a large scale building in a square in which the Meier museum MACBA is the main actor and gives it its character without putting them into struggle was the delicate starting point of this project. The interior of the museum bursts out of its walls occupying any other available piece of wall in the square, becoming accessible to everyone and offering artists freedom to develop larger scale interventions and different conditions to meet their imagination. Our facade to the square becomes a new canvas for the city while the rear one is the one that filters light and provides views quality to the rooms. Due to its height the project has to deal with to very different scales, while the basement responds to the surrounding neighbourhood scale, the upper part undertakes a scale that allows it to deal with the skyline of Barcelona. The program arrangement responds in terms of time and flexibility to the target user, allowing an organic arrangement with endless configurations.
